I wonder why Buick gave the Verano it's own face when the Regal is 100% Insignia.

Because the Opel Astra sedan came after the Buick Verano.
The Verano is a straight up rebadge of the Chinese-market Buick Excelle GT.
GM took the body of the Excelle GT/Verano twins and added a more Astra-looking front clip to make the Astra sedan.

Because the astra face is designed for a hatch and looks strange on a sedan body.

True, but I like the Astra face more than the Verano

They're both fairly dull to be honest. The Astra is one of the most anonymous blobs in it's segment here.

It's still just a Cruze, underneath it all. The buicks have even worse ergonomics, especially with the proximity key, where the push-button start is above the radio controls. Ugh.

To me the Verano looks like a Buick tho. Which in some ways if a good thing. While the Astra looks almost Mazda-ish, and not the new Mazda either.
